[Week 5] Stalybridge CC 2nd XI vs New Mills CC 2nd XI

On a beautiful day for cricket in sunny Dukinfield, Stalybridge Captain Brian Stone won the toss against a youth heavy New Mills, putting the visitors into bat, and it wasn’t long until 2nd bowling opener Ajeet Kaintura (sorry Ajeet!) struck in the 4th over, bowling Alex Bellis for 1, seeing the opposition 2/1. After the narrow defeat last week at the hands of Old Glossop, Stalybridge 2nds were looking to make amends at Pott Shrigley, a location set in infamy for this scorer’s son, who was run-out without facing a ball on the previous visit to this ground back at the tail end of 2019.   With Brian winning the toss, he elected to bowl, and opening bowlers Madussar Bashir and Ajeet Kaintura kept the run rate to around 3 an over, and for the first 14 overs, with just the one wicket to show for it though, a big air shot by … Continue reading “[Week 2] Pott Shrigley CC 2nd XI vs Stalybridge CC 2nd XI”
