I’ve just had the pleasure of scoring my first ‘100’ game and I’ve got to say, it’s pretty weird, and at times frantic to score, and that’s when I know 95% of the players!!!
As the weekend’s festivities continue well into the evening, much to the annoyance of a certain Transcendental Astrologer over on Chester Avenue, my post is here to say thank you to all involved in organising this weekend’s activities in aid of raising funds towards purchasing a defibrillator to be held at the ground in the hope of never needing to be used to help someone who suffers a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).
Approximately 95% of people who suffer an SCA, will die before reaching the hospital and 30,000 people this year will suffer Sudden Cardiac Arrest. With effective community initiatives in place, such as this, the survival rate could be as high as 50%.
If you would like to make a donation to the fund, please use the link below.
The last two days have seen a 2nd XI vs 3rd XI match yesterday, a juniors game, BBQ breakfast, music and kids entertainment, the intra-club Chairman’s XI vs Presidents XI ‘100’ fixture, a bowling speed gun competition, gin & prosecco stall, stone-fired pizzas and more Lech and Red Stripe to help wash it all down with, all-in-all a very worthwhile endeavour for a worthy cause; any monies over the required amount required for the defibrillator will be put to use to improve facilities for the burgeoning juniors section. Well done to all the organisers, and thank you to everyone who attended.
Oh, for reference the Chairman’s XI won by 64 runs after scoring a decent 152/3, scorecard available here.
And if a defibrillator wasn’t needed enough, this should be reason alone… 🙂
