Charlesworth & Chisworth CC vs Stalybridge CC

Stalybridge’s catching improves, but still needs a bit of work. With another glorious week’s sunshine, leading up to the weekend, it came as no shock that Saturday again threatened thunderstorms and downpours, with the 1st up at good-friends Charlesworth & Chisworth. Charlesworth’s captain David Wood won the toss and put themselves into bat, presumably to try and force a quick game so he could enjoy his Daughter’s dance thing, or whatever it was. 🙂 James Brady and Jacob Dooley opened the bowling for the visitors, and it was Dooley who was to claim first blood, with an edged catch to … Continue reading “Charlesworth & Chisworth CC vs Stalybridge CC”

Stalybridge CC 1st XI vs Hollingworth CC 1st XI

With the threat of rain on the cards, it was little surprise, that to maximise achievable points, that upon winning the toss, Stalybridge Captain, Mike Whitworth put the seemingly weakened Hollingworth into bat, one that looked to pay off instantly with the quick dismissal of Mohammed Akram, four balls into the first over, and the removal of ex-Stalybridge player Khalid … Continue reading “Stalybridge CC 1st XI vs Hollingworth CC 1st XI”

Pott Shrigley CC 1st XI vs Stalybridge CC 1st XI

Stalybridge left victory slip through their fingers at Pott Shrigley. I’ll get this out the way first, you don’t drop an opener on 2, 6, 35 and 38, who then goes on to score 58 and deserve to win (though the one on 38 runs would have been a worldy of a catch as it sailed over the bowler’s head). Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Captain Mike Whitworth‘s opening pair of Adam Smith-Harwick (16) and Rob Mallett (35) got off to a good start, putting on a 32 partnership before a audibly frustrated Adam, was caught off James … Continue reading “Pott Shrigley CC 1st XI vs Stalybridge CC 1st XI”
