Stalybridge 2s v Denton 2s: GMCL Division Six East, 45 Overs.
Stalybridge won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Senior debut handed to Adam Lees.
1st Innings
Denton began strongly and were 79-2 at the midway point, with a notable contribution from Oliver Smith (31 off 55). However, the introduction of Dave Lees and Reuben Tollett were impactful. Dave and Reuben combined clinically to break Denton's batting, who struggled to build partnerships. Dave took 4 wickets for 30 runs during his spell of 11 overs (economy of 3.71) and was equally matched by Reuben, who took 4 wickers for 22 runs, during his spell of 6.4 overs. Combined, the partnership restricted Denton to 116 all out.
It would be remiss not to mention Dave's blatant and obvious hogging of the limelight. Adam Dooley at square leg leapt in front of the umpire, and in his own words "likely saving his life", to take a fully outstretched catch. Whilst Adam celebrated, Dave cruelly kicked over the wickets, leaving umpire Paul no choice but to call a no-ball. Never one to be outdone eh Dave ...
2nd Innings
Despite some setbacks, Bridge navigated their chase well, thanks to a dominant opening innings from Jacob Dooley (58 runs off 78 balls), combining with his brother Adam Dooley's commanding knock (34 runs from 37 balls). Successfully they chased down 117 runs in 32.1 overs, with 5 wickers remaining.
Bridge recorded their second win of the GMCL and look ahead to their first away game at Glodwick next week.
